Accountant LAPF Vacancy


The Local Authorities Pensions Fund (LAPF) is a social security institution affiliated to the Prime Minister's Office Regional Administration and Local Government (PMORALG). LAPF has its headquarter in Dodoma with zone offices in Dar es salaam, Arusha, Iringa and Mwanza. LAPF activities have been steadily increaSing in the recent past and in response to that, the Fund is seeking to recruit staff to fill the following positions available at its headquarters.
Job purpose
Repots to senior Accountant, the Accountant will be responsible for preparation of financial statements, effective application of accounting procedures and internal controls
Qualifications Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate for this position should have:
Holder of a Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance or Business Administration with bias in Accounting; .
Should have understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards;
Must be a holder of CPA (T) or equivalent;
Must be computer literate with advanced knowledge of Integrated Financial Management Systems
Duties and Responsibilities:
Process payments and invoices accurately and timely as per Fund's procedures;
Ensures accuracy of subsidiary books of accounts;
Ensures prompt posting of transactions and balancing of books of accounts
Supervise as required the reconciliation of receivable and payable accounts and communicate with both creditors and debtors
Verifies safe custody of fixed assets by maintaining an accurate asset register and appropriate level of asset insurance
Prepare as required related vouchers for payroll financial. accounting, including salary obligations, actual costs and salary disbursements.
Maintaining the integrity of the General Ledger by ensuring that budgets, descriptions and codes are up to date and that accounts are reconciled and cleared when appropriate.
Prepares financial statements and schedules for external audit purposes in accordance with the International Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards
Maintaining the actual financial records in compliance with the accounting standards and principles laid out
Perform account reconciliations and ensure all ledgers are closed as per Fund policy and principles laid out
Ensure accurate recording of all revenues and expenses, so as to aid the preparation of the Trial Balance, Profit & Loss Account, and Balance Sheet etc.
To ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year-end closing
Perform journal entries as per established and statutory accounting standards.
